African children know more about Western superheroes than the real heroes who built their own civilizations. They can describe Wakanda in detail — but cannot locate the real Kingdom of Ashanti on a map.
Founded in Kumasi, Ghana — the historic seat of the Ashanti Empire — AHF set out to create Africa's first premium interactive comic biography platform. Not a textbook. A living, breathing digital experience that makes history as exciting as any Marvel movie.
We are a registered NGO under Ghana's Companies Act (Act 992), governed by a board of directors who believe that cultural identity is the foundation of confident, empowered young Africans.
Our heroes span every corner of the continent — from the scholars of Timbuktu to the warrior queens of Zululand, from the pharaohs of the Nile to the pan-African visionaries of the 20th century.
"Every child on this continent deserves to see themselves in the stories they read — not as sidekicks, but as the main character."
— Fai Shey Derick, Founder & Executive Director
Six principles that shape every product decision, every partnership, and every story we tell.
Every decision starts with one question: does this help African children connect with their heritage?
Historically accurate, beautifully crafted, deeply engaging — we hold content to the highest standard.
Built by Africans, for African children, with input from educators, historians, and families continent-wide.
Heroes from every corner — North, South, East, West, and Central — because every region has legends.
Free tiers, offline reading, local language narration — every barrier removed so every child can learn.
Headquartered in Kumasi, the heart of the Ashanti Kingdom — we build from African soil, upward.
