North Africa

Imhotep was the world's first recorded polymath — architect, physician, and chief minister to Pharaoh Djoser. He designed the Step Pyramid at Saqqara, the earliest monumental stone structure on Earth. Revered as a god of medicine in later centuries, his genius preceded Hippocrates by more than two thousand years.
