Kwame Nkrumah

Kwame Nkrumah led Ghana to become the first sub-Saharan African nation to gain independence from colonial rule in 1957. His vision of a united Africa inspired liberation movements across the continent and gave birth to the Organisation of African Unity. He remains the father of Pan-Africanism and modern African statehood.
