Sundiata Keita

Sundiata Keita overcame childhood paralysis and exile to defeat the sorcerer-king Sumanguru and establish the mighty Mali Empire. His epic, passed down through generations of griots, is one of the greatest oral histories in the world. He authored the Manden Charter, one of the earliest declarations of human rights.
