Wangari Maathai founded the Green Belt Movement, which planted over 50 million trees and empowered rural women across Kenya. She became the first African woman to receive the Nobel Peace Prize for her contribution to sustainable development, democracy, and peace. Her work proved that environmental action and social justice are inseparable.
